We at A Viewing Space are excited to announce our first open call for submissions.

Back in 2022, four writers were given the same prompt, and asked to generate text and images in response. These compositions were then compiled and published as our first book, Quietly Between. We’re now inviting you to respond to that same prompt, slightly amended here:

Begin with place and time.

Place(s): where you are/were. Both text and photos could be of your present place. Or one element is, and the other draws from something else.

Time: some element of time is incorporated into the project.

15-30 pages involving a combination of text and image. View a sample of the original book.

Selected submissions will be published online in pdf format, with the additional potential to be printed as chapbooks.

• Take the prompt as a starting point and catalyst rather than a strict set of rules.
• The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2026.
• One manuscript submission allowed per reading period.
• Please include a short description of your process.
• No AI.
• This is not a contest.
• There is no fee to submit.
• Submissions will not be read blind.
